Cries profusely

[The thing about this canon is that it's full of time loops and no one's quite sure yet what order exactly they occurred in. So strap on your seatbelts and hold on. I am so sorry.]

Before the Dan

Momo's early childhood was, presumably, quite uneventful. She had her mother, her father, and an older brother whose sandcastles she liked to smash. Said brother was, in a word, a genius and no one ever forgot it. Naturally, people paid quite a bit of attention to him, and not to Momo, and he certainly didn't pay that much attention to her either, not with his usual detached attitude.

However, that all changed eventually, and it started with an accident. One day, a 15th of August, while on an outing to the beach with her father, both he and Momo were caught in the waves, leading to their deaths by drowning. They then came into contact with the Heat Haze.

Not much is known about what the Heat Haze truly is, but it affects people who die in pairs on the 15th of August and chooses one of them to possess with a snake, (coming from the medusa behind the Heat Haze) both reviving the person and bestowing a power on them in the process.

This particular August 15th, Momo Kisaragi was the one who was revived and possessed, by the Eye Captivating Snake, specifically. Alive once more, she eventually washed up on the shore safe and sound. Her father's body, on the other hand, was never recovered.

And then there was her new power to deal with. It started innocently enough, with things such as a drawing she made suddenly catching the eyes of the right people, drawing enough of their attention to end up as the cover of a novel. More and more, she found herself receiving more attention than she ever had before, to the point where it actually became a serious problem for her. She couldn't go anywhere without people looking at her, she couldn't make friends, she couldn't control what was happening.

This was the power the snake had given her, the eye captivating ability, which drew attention to her or to whatever objects she chose. And she didn't have the slightest idea how to control it.

It eventually led to her being offered a job in show business and, hoping to help her single mother pay the bills and being actually somewhat drawn by the idea of it, she accepted. She started out with a smaller job, of course, but she drew so much attention that her newfound popularity soon got her the more glamorous jobs singing and acting, essentially making her a new idol on the scene.

That didn't mean her troubles with her powers were over though.

Additionally, around this time there was also an... incident with her brother, Shintaro. A friend of his from school, Ayano, had committed suicide and, in response, he dropped out of school after reaching high school, becoming a shut-in. A year after this began, he received a file on his computer that turned out to be some sort of virtual girl named Ene, who Momo came to meet as well.

Manga

Two years after Shintaro dropped out from school, the story picks up again.

Momo still could not control her power, but she had grown used to going through less used streets and roads whenever she had to go to school or anywhere else, lest she end up facing crowds of people surrounding her. During one such occasion, where she'd gone out in disguise to go to a store, she was discovered on the way. So intent were the people around her on getting closer to her that, in her haste to escape them, she ended up accidentally causing a rather large commotion. After making her escape, her agent, having heard of the commotion, called her to find where she was and chastise her for the spectacle. Hearing that though, Momo only claimed she was quitting and hung up on him, as frustrated as she was.

Right after though, she came face to face with another girl in her hiding spot. When the girl asked her to come with her, the latter believed she was with the idol agency and, believing she'd been found already, followed her. Instead of leading her to a set or an office however, the girl took her to where she lived, someplace completely unfamiliar to Momo. Upon arriving there, she learned the girl's name-- Kido-- and met another boy named Kano. There they explained about the group they were part of, the Mekakushi Dan, or Blindfold Gang. Anyone could join the group, they said, but every single one of the members had abilities like Momo's own and they could help her learn to control it. That in mind, and eager for the chance to make friends like a normal girl, she agreed to join their group.

At the same time, she also met another of the group's members, a seemingly young girl named Mary who was one-quarter medusa. While getting tea for the rest of them, Mary accidentally spilled it on Momo's phone, which led to the four of them going out to, what else, buy both a new phone and a mug to replace the one that had been broken when it spilled.

On the way there, while concealed by Kido's ability, which allowed them to appear invisible to anyone else, Momo thought she saw Shintaro in the streets. But that was impossible, wasn't it? He never left the house. Why would he suddenly be out now? And on such a hot day, too! She was distressed by the sight, but soon convinced herself she'd only imagined it.

Until they actually reached the department store that had been their destination. There they once again ran into Shintaro, literally this time, in Kido's case. Before he could notice Momo or they could do anything about it, however, the store ended up being the target of a terrorist attack. They sealed off every exit and took all the shoppers including Shintaro and Kano, hostage. Kido, Momo, and Mary were spared from this, having still been safely hidden.

With the use of their abilities, and some help from the boys, though, the girls managed to incapacitate the terrorists long enough for Shintaro to get the doors open, thus allowing the police to enter and diffuse the situation.

In the commotion, however, Shintaro was grazed by a bullet and passed out from the shock, leading the rest of them to take him back to the Mekakushi Dan's headquarters with them. Once he woke up again, everything was explained to him and he, along with Ene, was officially declared a member of the group-- whether he liked it or not.

They met the one member of the Dan they hadn't come across yet, a boy named Seto and the group proceeded to have a fun day at an amusement park. Fun which, on their way back to the gang's headquarters, was promptly ruined. They came across by a boy in black, perhaps around her brother's age, who soon approached them.

And he pulled out a gun.

And shot Kano in the head.

Then Seto. Then Kido.

Then the rest of them.

Bad end.

Manga 2

The timeline was reset to the very beginning of the previous events.

This time, Momo doesn't get the chance to attempt to reach the store in disguise.

Instead, she was at home when a commotion occurred in her brother's room and, upon investigating, found that Shintaro had spilled his soda in his rabbit's food. Still having stayed inside the house for two years, he attempted to convince her to go out to buy rabbit food by herself. When she refused, an argument broke out, which ended with the both of them going out in the scorching August heat.

On the way, they met up with two grade school-aged kids, Hibiya and Hiyori, when Hiyori recognized Momo as a famous idol. While Momo agreed to give her an autograph, a crowd formed around them... which Hiyori promptly berated and forced to disperse.

Quickly hitting it off with Hiyori after that, Momo then invited the two kids to join them while they shopped and later exchanged phone numbers.

Later, when she called Hiyori's phone, Momo was only able to hear her calling for help before the line cut off.

And that's all that's been written for it so far.

Novels

Things proceed in pretty much the same manner as the first manga route, until the point where they would have all been killed.

They met the same boy who killed them all that time, but he was decked out all in white and, rather than being hostile, was entering an ambulance with Hibiya. Ene seemed to recognize him, called him Konoha, even, and after a chase, they brought the both of them back to their headquarters.

The topic of the Heat Haze was brought up and, after bringing Momo and Shintaro up to speed with what the rest of the Dan knew, they proceeded to put their heads together and try to puzzle out the rest of it.

Early the next morning, Momo goes out with Hibiya.

This route is currently unfinished.

Songs

Due to the fact that these are music videos, these are a little more subject to interpretation. However, the basic story is still the same as the other routes.

Momo has trouble controlling her eye powers, but she meets the Dan and makes friends with them, around the same time that her brother finally leaves the house for the first time in two years. The group also meets the same people they met in all of the previous ones and there are two endings this time around.

One is Outer Science, where the group is in an endless loop with the same boy from the first manga route killing them all over and over again and the timeline is reset over and over again. Bad end.

The other ending is Summertime Record, where they finally get past the summer and presumably all go their separate ways. They might forget the summer, they say, but everything that happened will still be important to them. This one has also been confirmed to be a bad end.

There's one more song, Lost Time Memory, which is meant to occur after the ending of the series and involves Shintaro receiving a power from Ayano, but...

...Well, we just don't know what's up with that.
